Spotlight on Alliance Committees
New Member Joins Alliance Patient Advocate Committee
Helaine Bader, MPH, has joined the Alliance Patient Advocate Committee as a new patient advocate for the Alliance Neuro-Oncology Committee. She is the mother of Theo Skinner, who passed away in 2024 at 17 after a brain tumor spread to his leptomeninges. In his honor, Helaine founded the Leptomeningeal Cancer Foundation to educate patients and providers, advance research, and expand access to care and clinical trials.
A lifelong public health advocate, Bader has worked in health education, communications, and advocacy, including a fellowship in the breast cancer division at the National Cancer Institute and directing global cervical cancer advocacy at a biotech company. She consults on health education efforts designed to address gaps in care, serves as vice president of education for a women’s health nonprofit, and co-authored New Dimensions in Women’s Health (9th edition). She lives in Broomfield, Colorado.
