Spotlight on Alliance Committees

alliance publications committee: transition and progress

Two new leaders have been appointed to the Alliance Publications Committee. Joining Co-Chair John C. Grecula, MD, are Apar K. Ganti, MD, and Daniel M. Trifiletti, MD, who will serve as Co-Chair and Vice-Chair, respectively.

Konstantin H. Dragnev, MD, who served as Co-Chair for more than eight years, has transitioned to co-lead the Alliance Prevention Committee. His leadership has significantly impacted the work of the committee.

Dr. Ganti is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Oncology and Hematology, at University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Associate Director for Clinical Research at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. His research interests are focused on the development of novel treatment approaches for patients who are not candidates for standard therapies. His laboratory is focused on identifying novel prognostic and predictive biomarkers for these malignancies.

Dr. Trifiletti is a Professor of Radiation Oncology with joint appointments as a Consultant in the Department of Neurosurgery and the Department of Cancer Biology at the Mayo Clinic in Florida. He is an international leader in radiation oncology and stereotactic radiosurgery. His short-term research goals focus on describing the impact of radiation on the priming of the brain tumor microenvironment. He suggests that discovering the biological underpinnings of radiation priming will allow for novel, "game-changing" cancer therapies, rapid translation to early-stage clinical trials and, ultimately, improved outcomes in patients with fatal diseases.
